Metro pass renewal required

The spring U-Pass, allowing WUSTL community members free use of Metro, the region’s public transportation system, expires May 21. Eligible employees may now request a summer 2007 U-Pass; eligible students beginning April 30.

Rwandan hero Rusesabagina closes spring Assembly Series

Rwandan hero Paul Rusesabagina will speak on his experiences, his ongoing support of Rwanda, the genocide in Darfur and current issues involving international humanitarian aid at 11 a.m. April 18 in Graham Chapel for the final Assembly Series lecture of the spring semester.

A&S boasts three Udall, three Goldwater, two Truman scholars

Arts & Sciences undergraduates made another impressive showing in their annual quest for prestigious national scholarships and fellowships, including three students receiving the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and three receiving the Morris K. Udall Scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year. Last week, two WUSTL students also were named recipients of the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship.

Thurtene Carnival continues green theme

More than 120,000 people from the St. Louis area are expected to attend the annual Thurtene Carnival from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. April 21-22 on the North Brookings parking lot. Already the oldest and largest student-run carnival in the nation, this year Thurtene aims to reach further into the St. Louis community while expanding on last year’s pledge to remain environmentally friendly.

Social Change Grants go to three students

The Community Service Office has announced three student winners of the Social Change Grants. Presented annually to students seeking to better their community, the three grants have a total value of $18,000.
