Campus-wide food drive aimed at Ferguson, surrounding communities
Washington University has joined forces with Operation Food Search to collect food for Ferguson and surrounding communities. Faculty, students and staff are invited to drop off canned meat or other food items at 21 bins located throughout the Danforth Campus as well as at West Campus, North Campus and the School of Medicine. The drive, modeled after the spring food drive PB&Joy, will run through Labor Day (Sept. 1).
Medical center summer concert to be held Aug. 23
Musically talented members of the Washington University Medical Center community will be featured in a summer concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, in the lobby of the Center for Advanced Medicine.
Washington University introduces safety and security app
The Washington University Sentinel, a new safety and security mobile app for the Danforth and Medical campuses, is now available. The app is free and provides students, faculty and staff easy access to emergency numbers, crime alerts and safety tips.

The Vandeventer Avenue exit from eastbound Interstate 64/Highway 40 will reopen about noon Friday, Aug. 8.
Olin teams up with Human Rights Campaign to host LGBT workplace inclusion conference
Olin Business School and the Human Rights Campaign — the largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans — will host an LGBT Workplace Inclusion Conference from 8:30 a.m.-noon Thursday, Aug. 14. The conference will take place in Bauer Hall, Room 240.

Kevin Hardcastle named university’s new chief information security officer
Kevin Hardcastle has been appointed chief information security officer for Washington University in St. Louis, reporting to John Gohsman, vice chancellor for information technology and chief information officer.
CID centennial focus of Becker Library exhibit
To help commemorate the Central Institute for the Deaf’s centennial, the Bernard Becker Medical Library has a new exhibit featuring rare books, early hearing aids, photos and other items related to the institute.
