Faculty Achievement Award nominations sought

Nominations are being accepted for Washington University in St. Louis’ annual Faculty Achievement Awards, known as the Arthur Holly Compton Faculty Achievement Award and the Carl and Gerty Cori Faculty Achievement Award.

Annual winter concert Jan. 18

Washington University Medical Center faculty, staff and students will perform their third annual winter concert at 4 p.m. Jan. 18 in the lobby of the Center for Advanced Medicine, 4921 Parkview Place. A reception will follow the concert. The event is free and open to the public.

WUSTL staff encouraged to apply for weeklong study-abroad program

Applications are now being accepted for the 2014 Global Diversity Overseas Seminar program. The GDOS program is a staff-development opportunity involving seminar meetings, group discussions and assigned readings culminating in a week-long trip to a country that hosts one of Washington University in St. Louis’ study-abroad programs. Upon return to campus, GDOS participants lead outreach efforts to share what they’ve learned with the WUSTL community. This year’s destination is Ghana. The application deadline is Jan. 8; winners will be announced Jan. 21.

Annual Financial Freedom Seminar Jan. 18

In remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr., the Society of Black Students for Social Welfare and the Office of Student Affairs at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis will host their annual Financial Freedom Seminar on Saturday, Jan. 18. “Your Money, Your Future,” takes place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in Brown Hall, Room 100. It is free and open to the public.

Annual art show accepting submissions

The School of Medicine’s 10th Annual Art Show is accepting submissions from students, faculty and staff. The art show will be held in the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center atrium from Jan. 21 through Feb. 21. 

CANCELED: Free vehicle inspections Dec. 7

The planned free vehicle inspections scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, have been canceled due to the weather. Washington University Police Department and Parking Services, in partnership with Hartmann’s Towing, had planned to offer an inspection service for WUSTL students, faculty and staff from noon-2:30 p.m. Dec. 7 in Millbrook Garage.  But travelers instead can schedule a free vehicle check at Hartmann’s.

University College Preview Night Dec. 12

University College — the professional and continuing education division in Arts & Sciences — is hosting Preview Night for the spring 2014 semester at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, in Holmes Lounge, Ridgley Hall, on the Danforth Campus. Doors open at 6 p.m.; a light dinner will be served.
