Pow Wow takes place April 5
The 24th annual Pow Wow, a festival of American Indian cultures at Washington University in St. Louis, will be held Saturday, April 5, in the Field House on the Danforth Campus. The event, hosted by the Kathryn M. Buder Center for American Indian Studies at the Brown School, is free and open to the public.

Emergency communication system to be tested March 19
Washington University in St. Louis will test its emergency communication system, WUSTLAlerts, at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19. The test will take place unless there is the potential for severe weather that day or some other emergency is occurring at that time.
Global conference focus: maternal and child health, infections in animals that threaten humans
On March 28, renowned researchers from around the globe will gather in St. Louis to discuss maternal and child health and infections in animals that threaten humans. These topics will be highlighted at the second annual conference of the Washington University Center for Global Health and Infectious Disease.
See the future of the campus – March 10 and 11
The Washington University Medical Center is undergoing the initial phases of a transformation that primarily will feature expansions of St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Siteman Cancer Center. It also will include more space for Washington University Physicians clinics and diagnostics and new facilities for women and infants, oncology and surgical services. If you’re curious about the expansion, renderings will be on display and staff will be on hand to answer questions March 10 and 11 at two campus locations.
DiPersio, Schreiber to be honored by cancer group
John DiPersio, MD, PhD, chief of the Division of Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and Robert Schreiber, PhD, director of the school’s Center for Human Immunology and Immunotherapy Programs, will be honored in April by the American Association for Cancer Research.
Parts of Duncan Avenue closed March 3 to May 5
Duncan Avenue is scheduled to be closed in segments March 3 to May 5 for sewer work. The closures will begin west of Sarah Street, just east of the @4240 building.
Emergency siren tests this week
Washington University will test its emergency siren systems at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, and again at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6. The tests will take place unless there is the potential for severe weather or some other emergency is occurring at those times.

As part of WUSTL’s ongoing commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for university employees, students and visitors, the university is offering additional workplace safety training sessions.
WUSTL Libraries host annual book collection competition
Book lovers are invited to enter the Neureuther Student Book Collection Essay Competition. Sponsored by Washington University Libraries, the annual contest celebrates the joy of building a personal library. The deadline is Friday, Feb. 28.
