All Washington University in St. Louis employees and their families are invited to the Bears basketball annual Faculty and Staff Family Day beginning at noon Sunday, Jan. 18, at the Athletic Complex.
Medical Campus winter concert Saturday, Jan. 17
Washington University Medical Center faculty, staff and students will perform their annual winter concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, in the lobby of the Center for Advanced Medicine, 4921 Parkview Place. The event is free and open to the public.
School of Medicine art show accepting submissions
The School of Medicine’s 11th Annual Art Show is accepting submissions from students, faculty and staff. The art show will be held in the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center atrium, 520 S. Euclid Ave., from Jan. 13 through Feb. 11.
YouthBridge competition invites entrants, celebrates 10th anniversary
The YouthBridge Social Enterprise and Innovation Competition is marking its 10th anniversary. The competition, a partnership with the Skandalaris Center for Interdisciplinary Innovation and Entrepreneurship, encourages nonprofits to create earned-income models for sustainability, rather than relying on grants and donations. Entries are due Monday, Jan. 5.
Staff study-abroad program to visit South Korea
Attention Washington University staff members looking for an experience described as “wonderful,” “insightful” and “enriching”: Apply now for a chance to travel to South Korea in the summer of 2015 through the Global Diversity Overseas Seminar Program. The program is a professional development opportunity for staff that looks at diversity from a global perspective. Past cohorts have traveled to Ghana, Chile, Paris and Shanghai.

Beginning Jan. 5, visitor parking rates at Washington University School of Medicine’s Metro and Clayton garages will change to align with garage visitor parking rates of the School of Medicine’s hospital partners.
Lieberman, Danforth to discuss role of religion in politics Dec. 9
Former U.S. senators John C. Danforth and Joe Lieberman
will discuss “The Role of Religion in America’s Broken Politics” at
7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in Graham Chapel at Washington University in
St. Louis. The event is sponsored by the John C. Danforth Center on Religion
and Politics as part of the Danforth Distinguished Lecture Series and is free and open to the public.
Middle School Summer Challenge new program for area middle school students
A new summer program targeting sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders will be available in the summer of 2015. The Middle School Summer Challenge combines advanced coursework in a range of academic interests with leadership development designed to provide participants with a complete scholastic and social experience.
Washington University expands College Prep program
In an effort to serve more St. Louis-area talented
learners, Washington University in St. Louis will nearly double the size of its next
College Prep Program class to some 45-50 students. Now in its second year, the three-year program
prepares high-achieving high school students with limited financial
resources for success in college. The deadline to nominate a current high school freshman is
Tuesday, Nov. 18.
Winter coat donations sought
The Washington University Police Department is again helping with the annual Warners’ Warm-Up Coat Drive. Faculty, staff and students can bring new or gently used winter coats to donate to the Police Department in Lien House on the South 40 area of campus through Friday, Nov. 14.
