Campus blood drive Feb. 2
The next universitywide blood drive will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at seven locations throughout the campuses. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate.
Brown School launches 3-2 master’s program
The Brown School has launched a 3-2 Master of Public Health program. Designed for Washington University undergraduates, the program allows students to earn both an undergraduate degree and a master’s in public health in five years. It is available to students pursuing any undergraduate major in Arts & Sciences.

Nominations open for Ethic of Service award
The Gerry and Bob Virgil Ethic of Service Award recognizes members of the university community who exemplify service and contribution to the St. Louis region. Honorees include alumni, employees, students and volunteers. The nomination deadline is Feb. 5.

Faculty, staff and community leaders interested in learning more about grants from The Divided City: An Urban Humanities Initiative are invited to an informational reception at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in Umrath Hall Lounge. RSVP to attend. Funding proposals are due Feb. 15.
Faculty Achievement Award nominations sought
Nominations are being accepted for the annual Faculty Achievement Awards, known as the Arthur Holly Compton Faculty Achievement Award and the Carl and Gerty Cori Faculty Achievement Award. The nomination deadline is Feb. 12.
North memorial service planned Jan. 29
A memorial service to honor Nobel Prize-winning economist Douglass C. North, PhD, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, in Graham Chapel. A reception will follow in Holmes Lounge, Ridgley Hall. North died in November.
Next round of Boeing patent challenge begins
The Skandalaris Center is continuing its partnership with Boeing’s Phantom Works Ventures. Students have an opportunity to commercialize Boeing patents in non-aerospace applications. Information sessions are scheduled today, Jan. 22 and 25.
Faculty, staff can offer input on recreation center pricing
The Office of Recreation Programs and Services will hold two focus groups next week of current and retired faculty and staff to discuss membership pricing in the Gary M. Sumers Recreation Center. Sessions will be from 5:15-6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, and from 12:15-1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, in the Athletics Complex.
