Volunteer at Commencement
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to volunteer to help with the annual Commencement ceremony Friday, May 20. From ushering guests and graduates to passing out programs and other duties, volunteers help ensure a special day for students, families and friends.
Take part in Active Transportation Month
Active Transportation Month, the annual promotion of alternative means of commuting, begins with a kickoff at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, outside the Danforth University Center. Events will take place throughout the next month.

Register for NF Center Research Symposium
The university’s third biennial Neurofibromatosis Center Research Symposium will be Friday, April 1, at the Eric P. Newman Education Center on the Medical Campus. Register by March 25 to attend.
Bear Balance Week begins March 28
The Health and Wellness Committee is hosting Bear Balance Week to celebrate and encourage fitness and nutrition. The inaugural week, March 28-April 1, includes free yoga, kickboxing and spinning.
Register for WashU Moves activity challenge
Registration for this spring’s WashU Moves activity challenge is open. Benefits-eligible faculty, staff, clinical fellows and postdoctoral appointees can participate in the challenge, which runs March 30-July 8.
Flags lowered to honor Belgium victims
The U.S. and university flags over Brookings Hall are lowered to half-staff through sunset Saturday, March 26, in remembrance of those who died in the terror attacks in Brussels this week.
New RECESS competition seeks student startups
RECESS is a March Madness-style startup pitch competition involving 18 colleges nationwide. Interested students should apply to participate by Monday, March 28.

UPDATE: Emergency siren test rescheduled for Thursday; tornado warning policy updated
Washington University will test its emergency siren systems at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, as part of a Missouri statewide tornado drill. The tests will take place unless there is the potential for severe weather that day or some other emergency is occurring at that time.
