The Becker Medical Library has begun The Next Century Photovoice Project. Medical Center workers or students are invited to share photos showing what inspires them about the center.
Time to apply for Bear Cub Challenge
The university’s Bear Cub grant program helps researchers make the leap from bench scientists to budding entrepreneurs. Faculty, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students can submit a two-sentence project description now for this year’s final cycle.
Take part in summer staff book discussion
University staff members are invited to participate in a discussion of “Between the World and Me,” by Ta-Nehisi Coates. The book is this year’s selection for the 2016 First Year Reading Program. Sessions begin Aug. 2.

Memorial service planned for Robert Morrell
A service to remember Robert Morrell, professor emeritus in Arts & Sciences, will be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 22 in the East Asian Library in January Hall. Morrell died in May.
Finalists announced for Global Impact Award
Six finalists for the Skandalaris Center’s 3rd annual Global Impact Award have been announced. The startups will compete for a prize of up to $50,000 in funding that will be awarded this November.
Sun, summer and jazz
St. Louis funk/soul/jazz collective The Liberation Organ Trio will launch Washington University’s 2016 Jazz in July series with a free performance Thursday, July 7.
Summer blood drives on campus

Washington University in St. Louis faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to march in this year’s PrideFest Parade in downtown St. Louis on Sunday, June 26.
Project to create intersection at Kingshighway, Forest Park Parkway
A project to create a traditional intersection at Forest Park Parkway and Kingshighway Boulevard is expected to begin in July or August. Forest Park Parkway west of Kingshighway through Union Avenue will close to through traffic for up to a year.
