Campus blood drive next week

The next universitywide blood drive will be held Tuesday, Sept. 13, at seven locations throughout the campuses. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate.

Longyear memorial scheduled for Sept. 10

A memorial for student Sarah Longyear has been scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, in College Hall on the South 40 area of campus. A reception will follow in Tisch Commons in the Danforth University Center.

Take part in Community Counts survey

The Gephardt Institute is again collecting data on the myriad ways that Washington University is involved in the community. Faculty, staff and students who oversee community engagement efforts are asked to complete the streamlined Community Counts survey by Sept. 30.

Faculty can apply now for election programming grants

The Gephardt Institute encourages faculty to apply for funding for programs to engage students in the election through special events, discussions or projects. Proposal deadlines are every Friday until all funds are distributed or Nov. 4.

Gun violence public health challenge planned

The Institute for Public Health and the Skandalaris Center are holding an immersive Public Health Challenge Sept. 16-18, during which multidisciplinary student teams will develop programs and concepts to reduce gun violence in St. Louis.

Register for WashU Moves activity challenge

Registration for this fall’s WashU Moves activity challenge is open. Benefits-eligible faculty, staff, clinical fellows and postdoctoral appointees can participate in the challenge, which runs Sept. 7 – Dec. 15.

Gateways to Innovation conference to be held Sept. 15

Washington University will host Midwest Research University Network’s Gateways to Innovation conference at the Cortex Innovation Community on Sept. 15. The event will focus on technology transfer and startup financing. The deadline to register is Sept. 8.

School of Law celebrates anniversary

The School of Law is celebrating its 150th anniversary at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, with a toast, cake and a Clydesdale outside Anheuser-Busch Hall.

Memorial service set for Jessie Ternberg

A memorial service for Jessie L. Ternberg, PhD, MD, professor emerita at the School of Medicine, will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Missouri Botanical Garden. Ternberg, 92, died July 9.
