Danforth Campus Staff Day planned for May 22

Save the date for the annual Staff Day event, organized to celebrate the outstanding work and achievements of Danforth Campus staff members. Also, take part in games and other activities during this year’s event May 22.

Weight Watchers group meets weekly

A Weight Watchers at Work group has formed on the Danforth Campus. Meetings take place every Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. in Tietjens Hall.

Take part in Teaching Center institute May 24-25

The Teaching Center is again offering the program “Inclusion and Diversity to Engage All: Faculty Institute on Teaching,” or IDEA FIT. IDEA FIT will take place May 24-25 and bring faculty together in interactive workshops to work on inclusive teaching practices. Apply by May 11.

Rec Center hours changing as summer approaches

Fitness buffs, take note. Modified hours for the Sumers Recreation Center begin Wednesday, May 3, with regular summer hours beginning May 20. The South 40 Fitness Center also has modified hours beginning Wednesday and will close for the summer May 11.

Employees interested in green offices sought

The Office of Sustainability seeks employees interested in creating sustainable work environments who would like to certify their offices through the Green Office Program.

Proposals sought for online teaching grant

Proposals are being sought for the Marion Horstmann Online Teaching Innovation Grant, which funds development of outstanding online teaching and learning strategies. Applications are due June 15.

Technology Town Hall

A Technology Town Hall will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, in Connor Auditorium on the Medical Campus. Interested faculty, staff and students can also view the presentation by Skype. New technology to simplify university work will be demonstrated.

Med school musical on stage April 27-29

Students on the Medical Campus are preparing to perform their annual musical later this month. The show is “Beauty and the Beast,” and performances are at 8 p.m. April 27-29.

Take part in used shoe drive

The university is again taking part in a used shoe drive. Donations to Shoeman Water Projects help raise funds to provide clean water in developing countries. The drive runs until May, and there are several drop-off locations around the Danforth Campus.
