The College Prep Program is accepting nominations for its fifth cohort of scholars. The free program serves talented, low-income students from the St. Louis region. Scholars apply as high school freshmen and spend three summers living and learning on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis.

Confused about what can be recycled or composted on campus and what needs to be tossed? The Office of Sustainability has created a short video to help sort it out.

Researchers will gather Wednesday, Sept. 27, on the Medical Campus to discuss evidence-based public health at the 10th annual conference of the university’s Institute for Public Health. The conference is free, but registration is requested.

The Whittemore House, which full-time university faculty and staff members can join, now offers boxed dinners. The takeaway option is available the third Wednesday of the month, so the next will be Sept. 20.

The School of Medicine’s innovative program to introduce lay people to the world of medicine will get underway again later this month. Register now to take part in Mini-Medical School, a series of lectures and hands-on labs on everything from surgery to back pain to Alzheimer’s disease.

Membership is open for the Campus Diversity Collaborative, a staff and faculty group that encourages campus conversation around issues of diversity and inclusion. Complete the online form to receive news and updates from the group.

The next universitywide blood drive will be held Tuesday, Sept. 12, at seven locations throughout the campuses. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate.

The TL1 Translational Sciences Postdoctoral Program is recruiting postdoctoral researchers to fill training grant slots under the Clinical Translational Science Awards. Funding is available to trainees.

The Office of Sustainability is starting a bike commuter buddy system. The program aims to support and encourage more of the university community to commute by bike by connecting experienced with less experienced riders who live in the same area.
