Campus blood drive next week
The next universitywide blood drive will be held Wednesday, April 4, at seven locations throughout the campuses. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate.
Event celebrating Gass’ life planned April 6
An event celebrating the life of influential author William H. Gass, the David L. May Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Humanities at Washington University, will be held April 6 in Olin Library. Gass died in December.
Earth Week events begin Monday
The university community will have the chance to take part in a number of events beginning Monday, March 26, to celebrate Earth Week, from speakers to a pop-up farmer’s market to electronics recycling.
Landau memorial service planned April 7
A service celebrating the life of William Landau, MD, professor emeritus of neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, will be at 1 p.m. April 7 in Moore Auditorium on the Medical Campus.
School of Engineering launches master’s in cybersecurity engineering degree
High-profile cyberattacks and data breaches have made cybersecurity engineering one of the fastest-growing careers in the world, yet demand for highly qualified leaders exceeds supply. To meet that demand, the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University in St. Louis is launching a master’s degree in cybersecurity engineering to train new experts for this high-profile field.
Apply for Newman Exploration Travel Fund
University Libraries is encouraging graduate and undergraduate students, along with Danforth Campus faculty and staff members, to apply for a travel grant through the newly created Newman Exploration Travel Fund. The deadline is March 30.
Attend Sling Health Demo Day in April
Sling Health Network is a student-run biotechnology incubator that provides resources, training and mentorship to teams of students working to solve real-life clinical problems. RSVP to attend the group’s Demo Day, starting at 6 p.m. April 13.
FedEx shipping discounts available on campus
Washington University in St. Louis staff and students are eligible for FedEx shipping discounts for personal use at the three campus FedEx Office locations. You must show a valid university ID to use the discount.
Danforth Staff Council town hall planned March 13
The Danforth Staff Council will hold its spring 2018 town hall meeting from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in Hillman Hall’s Clark-Fox Forum.
Free vehicle inspections for employees, students next week
The university’s Police and Parking Services departments, in partnership with Hartmann’s Car Care and Towing, once again will sponsor free travelers’ vehicle inspections for students, faculty and staff. New this year, the service will be offered from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, March 5-9, at Hartmann’s, 6615 Olive Blvd.
