Campus blood drive next week

The next universitywide blood drive will be held Tuesday, Jan. 30, at seven locations throughout the campuses. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate.

Stanley Elkin, retyped

Los Angeles artist Tim Youd will pay homage to longtime English professor Stanley Elkin by retyping the latter’s 1976 novel “The Franchiser.” Sponsored by the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, in conjunction with the exhibition “Tim Youd: St. Louis Retyped,” the 11-day performance begins Jan. 26 in Ridgley Hall’s Holmes Lounge.

Nominations open for Ethic of Service Award

The Gerry and Bob Virgil Ethic of Service Award recognizes members of the university community who exemplify service and contribution to the St. Louis region. Honorees include alumni, employees, retirees, students and volunteers. The nomination deadline is Feb. 2.

Be a part of Day of Discovery & Dialogue

Members of the university community are invited to share their research and knowledge in building resilience by leading workshops or presenting at a poster session Feb. 14. The deadline for submissions has been extended to Friday, Jan. 26.

Trailblazer Award nominations sought

Nominate a Washington University faculty or staff member for a Trailblazer Award. The award celebrates the contributions that black alumni, faculty and staff have made to the university and to the broader community. The deadline is Feb. 15.

Leaders in technology and finance will come together at Olin Business School at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, in the Knight Center for a panel discussion to discuss Blockchain and its role in emerging financial technologies. The event is part of the Boeing Center for Supply Chain Innovation’s January Operational Excellence Series.

Faculty Achievement Award nominations sought

Nominations are being accepted for Washington University in St. Louis’ annual Faculty Achievement Awards, known as the Arthur Holly Compton Faculty Achievement Award and the Carl and Gerty Cori Faculty Achievement Award. The nomination deadline is Feb. 16.

Nominations sought for sustainability leadership

Nominations of people and projects that demonstrate the university’s sustainability goals in areas such as reducing waste and conserving energy are being accepted through Monday, Jan. 15. Winners of the new Sustainability Leadership Awards will be recognized at the Green Carpet Awards ceremony Feb. 5.

Medicine’s Art Show accepting works

The School of Medicine’s spring Art Show is now accepting submissions of artwork (paintings, sculpture, photography and more). Submissions are due by Jan. 12. The show will be held Jan. 16-Feb. 9 at the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center.
