A series of posters highlighting notable African-Americans in science and technology is on display in the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center (FLTC) Atrium on the Washington University Medical Campus through Feb. 28. The traveling poster series then can be seen in Seigle Hall on the Danforth Campus from March 5-29; and again at the FLTC Atrium from Aug. 1-31.

Applications are now open for the 2018 Global Impact Award (GIA), Washington University in St. Louis’ business plan competition for ventures that are scalable, sustainable and quick-to-market with proof of concept and a broad impact. The deadline is noon March 19.

To ensure broad communication, certain key university policies are published annually in The Record. These policies are intended to promote and support a positive working and learning environment. The policies also are available on the Human Resources website.

To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the novel “Frankenstein,” the university is hosting a student competition. The prompt for the challenge is “The New Frankenstein,” and students can enter written or visual works. The submission deadline is Oct. 15, and winners will receive up to a $1,000 prize.

The university’s annual trademark licensed supplier fair will take place next month. The fair will be 11 a.m.–2 p.m. March 6 in the Eric P. Newman Education Center on the Medical Campus. The fair is open to university faculty, staff and students. RSVP by March 2 to attend.

The Women’s Society of Washington University seeks nominations for the Harriet K. Switzer Leadership Award. The nomination deadline is Feb. 23.

Washington University in St. Louis staff are invited to participate in the university’s many diversity and inclusion programs, including  the upcoming Day of Discovery & Dialogue, through the new Staff Passport Program.  

The Washington University in St. Louis campus community is invited to nominate black students for the James E. McLeod Honors and Awards Program. The deadline is March 1.

Undergraduate and graduate students who love collecting books can submit entries for this year’s Neureuther Student Book Collection Essay Competition. The deadline is March 2, and winners can receive up to $1,000.

The 2018 Women in Innovation and Technology (WIT) symposium will be held Feb. 27 at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The symposium is open to all, but RSVPs are requested.
