Recycle holiday lights on campus
If you have unwanted or broken holiday lights, don’t throw them away. The Office of Sustainability again is holding a holiday lights recycling drive. Bring them to drop-off spots across the campuses by Jan. 31.

Faculty Achievement Award nominations sought
Nominations are being accepted for Washington University in St. Louis’ annual Faculty Achievement Awards, known as the Arthur Holly Compton Faculty Achievement Award and the Carl and Gerty Cori Faculty Achievement Award. The deadline to submit nominations is Feb. 15.
Input sought on Lime bike program
The university invites faculty, staff and students to complete a brief online survey about their use of and experiences with the Lime bike-sharing service on campus, as the pilot program ends Dec. 31. Survey participants have a chance to win a prize.
Flags lowered in memory of former President George H.W. Bush
The U.S. and university flags over Brookings Hall are lowered to half-staff in memory of former President George H.W. Bush. Bush, the country’s 41st president, died Nov. 30, 2018, at age 94.
WUPD’s Blue Santa program collecting donations
The Washington University Police Department’s Blue Santa program is collecting donations for the children of Whitney Thomas, who was killed in a traffic accident in October on Riverview Boulevard. The six children range in age from 11 to 8 months old.
Free vehicle inspections next week
The Washington University Police Department and Parking & Transportation Services, in partnership with Woodard’s Automotive, again are offering free vehicle inspections to university students, faculty and staff from Dec. 4-7.
Take MetroLink safety survey by Nov. 30
Faculty, staff and students who ride MetroLink are encouraged to share their thoughts about safety on the public transit system. The brief online survey is available through Nov. 30.

2FA required for students Nov. 28
Washington University reminds students that to ensure student and employee security and privacy, students, faculty and staff must use two-factor authentication (2FA) when accessing campus services and systems from off campus. Voluntary WashU 2FA enrollment is open for students and will be required beginning Nov. 28.
