Reminder: Share your feedback to help inform strategic planning
Chancellor-elect Andrew Martin is looking for input from the university community to help inform the strategic planning process that is getting underway this spring. In addition to small group conversations and formal meetings at the school and university levels, an online form is available where you can share your thoughts about the university’s short- and long-term priorities.
Students can apply to join climate delegation
Undergraduate and graduate students from all schools may apply to join the university’s delegation to attend a United Nations climate conference in fall 2019 or spring 2020. Applications will be reviewed beginning Friday, April 12.
Blood drive encourages student groups’ participation
The Washington University in St. Louis community is gearing up for the next universitywide blood drive April 3, with locations at the Athletic Complex on the Danforth Campus and at Olin Gym on Medical Campus. To encourage participation, students can sign up as part of a student group to donate or to volunteer.
Electronics recycling, paper shredding on campus March 29
The Office of Sustainability and the Knight Executive Education and Conference Center will hold an electronic waste recycling and confidential paper shredding event from 8-10:30 a.m. Friday, March 29, on Snow Way, outside Knight and Bauer halls.
Take part in research data storage seminar
Researchers on the Danforth and Medical campuses can sign up for a training seminar to learn about university-funded data storage that is available. The seminars will take place March 28 and April 4.
Reminder of key university policies
To ensure broad communication, certain key university policies are published annually in The Record. These policies are intended to promote and support a positive working and learning environment. The policies also are available on the Human Resources website.
Emergency communication system test planned March 28
Washington University will test its emergency communication system, WashUAlerts, at noon March 28. The test will take place unless there is the potential for severe weather that day or an emergency is occurring at that time.
Registration open for Mini-Medical School II
The School of Medicine’s innovative program to introduce lay people to the world of medicine gets underway late this month. Mini-Medical School II runs March 28 through May 9 and includes lectures, labs and more.
Apply for SPORE research grants
Applications are now being accepted for the Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) grants for research related to leukemia and pancreatic cancer.
Department in Arts & Sciences renamed
A department in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis has been renamed. It is now known as the Department of Jewish, Islamic, and Middle Eastern Studies. The previous name was the Department of Jewish, Islamic, and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures.
