Apply to join Danforth Staff Council
The Danforth Staff Council, which works with the administration to address staff concerns, is accepting applications for new members. Applications are due by Feb. 20. Also, the spring town hall meeting will be held March 12.
Libraries’ Neureuther essay competition open
Undergraduate and graduate students who love collecting books can submit entries for this year’s Neureuther Student Book Collection Essay Competition. The deadline is March 4, and winners can receive up to $1,000.
Nominate students for McLeod honors
The Washington University community is invited to nominate black students for the James E. McLeod Honors and Awards Program. The program recognizes the achievements of black students in academic excellence, research, leadership and community service. Nominations close March 1.
Metro Transit town halls start next week
Metro Transit officials will hold a series of town hall meetings in February to hear from Washington University faculty, staff and students.
Campus blood drive next week
A university blood drive will be held Tuesday, Jan.29, on the Danforth and Medical campuses.
Apply for Newman Exploration Travel Fund
Applications are now open for University Libraries’ Newman Exploration Travel Fund (NEXT). Graduate and undergraduate students, along with Danforth Campus faculty and staff members, are invited to apply for a travel grant. Applications are due by Feb. 28.
Nominations open for Ethic of Service Award
The Gerry and Bob Virgil Ethic of Service Award recognizes members of the university community who exemplify service and contribution to the St. Louis region. Honorees include alumni, employees, retirees, students and volunteers. The nomination deadline is Feb. 1.
Hoyt closed to vehicles starting Jan. 11
Beginning Friday, Jan. 11, Hoyt Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic for improvements to the north entry to the east end of campus. Vehicle access to campus from Forest Park Parkway will remain open at Throop Drive.
Recycle holiday lights on campus
If you have unwanted or broken holiday lights, don’t throw them away. The Office of Sustainability again is holding a holiday lights recycling drive. Bring them to drop-off spots across the campuses by Jan. 31.
