Louis Sullivan to lead health-care forum

Louis W. Sullivan, MD, secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services in the administration of President George H. W. Bush and president emeritus of the Morehouse School of Medicine, will lead a public forum on the future of health care at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Eric P. Newman Education Center, 320 S. Euclid Ave., at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

WUSTL named National Weather Service StormReady University

Washington University in St. Louis has been named the 104th national StormReady University by the National Weather Service. The designation recognizes communities — schools, cities and businesses — that take measures to ensure they are prepared for a severe-weather emergency.

Lynn to speak on separation of church and state

Barry W. Lynn, JD, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, will present “It’s Religion, Stupid, Not the Economy” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, in the Knight Center, Room 200 on the Danforth Campus of Washington University in St. Louis. The talk, which is free and open to the public, is the Thomas Hennings Lecture, jointly sponsored by the John C. Danforth Center on Religion & Politics and the Assembly Series.

Guided Arbor Tour of Danforth Campus offered March 21

Kent Theiling Jr., grounds and landscape design manager for the Danforth Campus, will lead a Spring Arbor Tour Wednesday, March 21. The guided tour will start at 11 a.m. at the Beaumont Pavilion in Brookings Quadrangle and is expected to last approximately an hour. The tour will take participants on a walk throughout the Danforth Campus to learn more about the different kind of trees located on campus.

Record takes spring break

Spring break begins this weekend, and, as students and faculty take a mid-March break, so does the daily Record e-mail. The Record will publish once next week on Wednesday, March 14, then resume regular five-day-per-week publication Monday, March 19. Emergency communications tests March 13, 14 and 21

WUSTL will test its emergency communication systems three times in March: at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 14; and at noon Wednesday, March 21. The tests will take place unless there is the potential for severe weather that day or some other emergency is occurring at that time. The drills are being held in conjunction with Missouri Severe Weather Awareness Week March 12-16.

Architecture & Design Career Fair March 22

The annual Architecture & Design Career Fair will take place from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in Steinberg Hall lobby. Students and alumni will have the opportunity to meet with top architecture firms, as well as professional and trade organizations. Architects also will be on hand to review student and alumni portfolios.

‘Faces of Hope’ celebration March 26

“Faces of Hope,” an event celebrating Washington University’s community partnership and impact, will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 26, in Danforth University Center, Room 276. The entire campus community is invited to this interactive poster session and networking reception highlighting WUSTL’s community engagement.
