Basketball Staff and Family Day benefits Winter Outreach

Faculty, staff and other members of the university community are invited to help St. Louis-area homeless while cheering on the men’s and women’s basketball teams as they square off against Brandeis University on Sunday, Jan. 20. The men’s game begins at noon and the women tip off at 2 p.m.

Annual winter concert Jan. 12

School of Medicine faculty, staff and students will perform their second annual winter concert at 6 p.m. Jan. 12 in the lobby of the Center for Advanced Medicine.

Tread the Med registration has begun

Registration began Dec. 17 for the third round of Tread the Med, a 100-day walking program and competition sponsored by the School of Medicine’s Wellness Committee. The program will begin Jan. 7.

Nominations sought for Ethic of Service award

Nominations now are being accepted for the annual Gerry & Bob Virgil Ethic of Service Award, which honors members of the WUSTL community who exemplify a character of service and giving to the St. Louis region.

Library launches 26th annual Neureuther competition ​

The book collection essay competition sponsored by Washington University Libraries is celebrating its 26th year this winter, offering four cash prizes to students who submit short essays about their personal book collections. The entry deadline for the 2013 contest has been set for Thursday, Feb. 28.

University College Preview Night Dec. 13​​

University College — the professional and continuing education division in Arts & Sciences — is hosting Preview Night for the spring 2013 semester at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in Holmes Lounge, Ridgley Hall. The program will provide information on tuition, transferring college credits, financial aid, academic advising, and the professional and continuing education programs. Spring classes begin Jan. 14, 2013.

Hurricane Sandy week runs until Dec. 9

A variety of events and opportunities are happening until Dec. 9 to raise money to aid those affected by hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey. Police department offers free vehicle inspections

On Saturday, Dec. 8, from noon to 2:30 p.m., the Washington University Police Department and Parking Services, in partnership with Hartmann’s Towing, will once again sponsor a free traveler’s vehicle inspection service to students, faculty and staff.
