Parking lot closing Sept. 27

The surface parking lot on the Medical Center campus at the corner of Taylor and Parkview avenues (C-lot) will close permanently at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.

Olin Library expands overnight hours

Following a successful trial run during the 2012-2013 academic year, Olin Library has expanded 24-hour access to five nights a week. Olin Library is now open from 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings to 8 p.m. on Friday evenings when fall and spring semester classes are in session. 

Family law expert hosts film screening Sept. 23

Professor Susan Appleton, JD, in connection with her course at the School of Law, “Adoption & Assisted Reproduction,” will be hosting a film screening of Lost Sparrow with panel discussion immediately following at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, in Anheuser-Busch Hall, Bryan Cave Moot Courtroom.

Global Certificate information session Sept. 18

An information session about the Global Certificate Program will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in Seigle Hall, Room 206. The Global Certificate is an interdisciplinary program designed to expose Washington University undergraduate students to diverse perspectives and teach them practical skills needed to thrive in today’s dynamic international landscape.

Global Diversity program holds Chile trip reception

The Global Diversity Overseas Seminar Program (GDOS) will host a photo exhibit and reception in the Weitman Gallery (lower level of Steinberg Hall) 4:30–6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17. Six Washington University in St. Louis staff members traveled to Santiago, Chile, in June through the program and explored several issues related to diversity and social justice.

Deadline for diversity, inclusion grant proposals Oct. 29

Washington University faculty and administrators with ideas for improving the campus environment for women, members of underrepresented minority groups, and other diverse groups are encouraged to apply for a Diversity and Inclusion Grant. Black Sexual Economies conference Sept. 27-28

The Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Work and Social Capital at Washington University School of Law is sponsoring the “Black Sexual Economies: Transforming Black Sexualities Research”conference Sept. 27-28 in the Bryan Cave Moot Courtroom in Anheuser-Busch Hall.

Brown School begins public health lecture series

The Brown School is launching a new Public Health speaker series titled “Innovative Solutions in State and Local Agencies,” designed to help policy makers grapple with tough public health problems. All lectures are free and open to the public and will take place from noon-1 p.m. in Brown Lounge, Brown Hall. The series kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 11, with “The ‘Long Tail’ and Public Health: New Thinking For Addressing Health Disparities.”
