Two professorships awarded in School of Law

Adrienne Davis, J.D., is joining the law faculty this semester as the William M. Van Cleve Professor of Law. An installation ceremony is planned for later this year. Karen Tokarz, J.D., has been named the inaugural holder of the School of Law’s first endowed professorship in public service. Tokarz will be installed as the Charles Nagel Professor of Public Interest Law and Public Service April 1, 2008.

Campus participates in annual RecycleMania contest

Every spring semester since 2003, the University community has focused on the three Rs — reduce, reuse and recycle — as participants in RecycleMania, an annual competition that pits WUSTL against colleges and universities throughout the United States to see which campus can prevent the most materials from landing in a landfill. The current semester is no exception. The 2008 RecycleMania competition began Jan. 27 and ends April 5.

Engineering dean announces her intention to step down

Mary J. Sansalone, Ph.D., dean and professor at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Engineering and Applied Science, who since July 2006 has directed the renewal of the school, has announced today her intention to step down from her position as dean at the end of the academic year to devote herself to teaching, research and other forms of University service.

The School of Law is hosting a roundtable discussion on transnational law titled “Globalization of Law and the Future of Legal Education” at noon on Feb. 26 in Anheuser-Busch Hall. WUSTL’s new Transnational Law Program, a U.S./European combined degree offering, is a cooperative initiative among Washington University School of Law, Utrecht University in The Netherlands, Catholic University of Portugal, Queens University Belfast and the University of Trento in Italy. “We are excited to offer this unique new program that will benefit both our students and faculty, and students and faculty at our partner schools,” says Michael Peil, executive director of the Whitney R.
