Cipriano, Gerull receive grant to study gender factors in orthopedics training
Cara Cipriano, MD, assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and Kate Gerull, a medical student at the school, received a grant from the American Medical Association (AMA) Women Physicians Section and the AMA Foundation to conduct a multicenter study of gender factors that may influence students’ decisions to pursue careers in orthopedic surgery.

Ansari Distinguished Service Award of the Geoscience Information Society at the society’s annual meeting last month in Phoenix. The honor recognizes significant contributions to the field of geoscience information.
Orthopedics names new executive vice chair, vice chairs
Regis J. O’Keefe, MD, PhD, the Fred C. Reynolds Professor and head of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, recently selected Charles Goldfarb, MD, as executive vice chair. Six other faculty members also were appointed to serve as vice chairs.
