Emergency Assembly Points — areas where those inside a particular building should assemble when an evacuation is needed — have been designated on all campuses. Signs like this one are being erected on the Danforth, North and West campuses and will go up on the Medical Campus in the next few months.
Singing the vision

Celebrating our American Indian culture
Visitors to the annual Pow Wow Apri 10 at the Field House enjoyed a daylong celebration of dancing, singing, drumming, arts, crafts and food. Sponsored by the Brown School’s Kathryn M. Buder Center for American Indian Studies, it is the only Pow Wow within 100 miles of St. Louis.
Bridging GAPS award winners announced
The Graduate Professional Council’s 2010 Bridging GAPS Awards were announced during a ceremony April 7 in the Jane Goldberg Formal Lounge in the Danforth University Center.
Stern, pioneering psychophysiologist, 85
John Stern, PhD, a pioneering psychophysiologist who conducted research at Washington University for nearly 60 years, died April 3, 2010 in St. Louis. He was 85.
Silver recognition
Susan Wightman (right) receives a wrapped silver platter from Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton April 7 in recognition of her 25 years of service to Washington University. The 2010 25th Anniversary Reception, held at Harbison House, honored Wightman and 92 other faculty and staff members for their quarter-century of dedication to Washington University.

Robert Salisbury, political science professor emeritus, 79
Robert Salisbury, PhD, professor emeritus of political science in Arts & Sciences and an expert on how lobbyists and interest groups work inside the Beltway, died April 9, 2010. He was 79.
Ethic of Service awards presented April 15
Six outstanding individuals will receive the 2010 Gerry and Bob Virgil Ethic of Service Award at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in the Knight Center. Founded during the Sesquicentennial year in 2003-04, the Ethic of Service award annually recognizes select members of the university community who exemplify a character of service and giving to the St. Louis region.
