Goldstein Leadership Award nominees due by Oct. 1
Nominations are now open for the 2012 Samuel R. Goldstein Leadership Awards in Medical Student Education. A $5,000 prize will be awarded to up to three WUSM faculty members who demonstrate leadership in medical student education.
Innovative imaging center awarded $7.1 million
The Molecular Imaging Center at Washington University
School of Medicine in St. Louis has received a five-year, $7.1 million
grant to develop innovative ways to study cancer and other disorders by
monitoring the activity of cells and proteins inside the body.

Ruby Bridges’ powerful story sets tone for Ervin Scholars Program’s 25th anniversary celebration
Six-year-old Ruby Bridges entered the history books when she entered first grade. As the youngest foot soldier in the battle to integrate public schools, she will have a powerful story to tell at the Ervin Scholars’ 25th anniversary keynote event at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in Graham Chapel.
Memorial services scheduled for two students
Campus memorial services will be held this month for two WUSTL students who recently died — Emily Benatar and Gabrielle “Gabby” Reuveni. The services will be held Sunday, Sept. 23, for Benatar and Sunday, Sept. 30 for Reuveni.
‘Remembering 9/11’ opens at Olin Library, runs through Sept. 30
“Remembering 9/11,” an exhibition featuring artifacts that reveal 9/11’s impact, is on view at Olin Library through Sunday, Sept. 30. The exhibition features material from University Archives and material collected for Remembering 9/11, a cultural archives project launched by American Culture Studies in Arts & Sciences exploring memories of 9/11 at the university and in the culture as a whole.

to take part in a series of Monday brown-bag luncheon seminars to be
held biweekly on the Danforth Campus at Washington University in St.

Macias to conclude 25-year tenure as chief academic officer
Edward S. Macias, PhD, who has served as Washington University’s chief academic officer for the past 25 years, has announced that he will step down from his position as provost and executive vice chancellor June 30, 2013.
Deadline for diversity, inclusion grant proposals Oct. 29
WUSTL faculty and administrators with ideas for improving the campus environment for women, members of underrepresented minority groups, and other diverse groups are encouraged to apply for a Diversity and Inclusion Grant. Proposals are now being accepted until Oct. 29 for program initiatives that strengthen and promote diversity on campus.
George Will lecture scheduled for tonight at Washington University has been rescheduled
Due to pre-election media responsibilities, George Will, who was to present the Fall keynote lecture for the John H. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics at Washington University tonight, has rescheduled this event for 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, Graham Chapel.
