Room reservation website improved
This January, visitors to reserveaspace.wustl.edu, the room reservation website managed by the Danforth University Center & Event Management Office, found a new, expanded and improved way to reserve spaces, including pooled classrooms, in many buildings on campus. Training sessions are scheduled to orient users to the site.
Faculty Achievement Award nominations sought
Nominations are being accepted for Washington University’s annual Faculty Achievement Awards, known as the Arthur Holly Compton Faculty Achievement Award and the Carl and Gerty Cori Faculty Achievement Award. The Compton Award is given to a distinguished member of the faculty from one of the six Danforth Campus schools and the Cori Award to a faculty member from the School of Medicine.The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, Feb. 15.

“Why Is It Called Washington University?” a presentation and book signing with Candace O’Connor, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at the AT&T Foundation Multipurpose Room at the Missouri History Museum, 5700 Lindell Blvd. O’Connor wrote Beginning a Great Work: Washington University in St. Louis, 1853-2003.
Apply to become a Clinton Global Initiative University volunteer
Beginning Jan. 16, students can apply to be a volunteer during the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), to be held at Washington University in St. Louis April 5-7, 2013. Volunteer roles include: serving as on-campus hosts and ushers, assisting with the production and logistics of the event,
helping CGI staff with press and media, and supporting CGI’s program
staff. Students with skills in photography, video, and social
media are encouraged to apply. In addition to working Friday and
Saturday, volunteers are required to attend two evening training
sessions April 1 and 4.
University hosts four blood drives during academic year
Blood drives take place at
eight convenient locations across all Washington University in St.
Louis campuses. The next blood drive is Jan. 29. The drives are offered during morning, afternoon and evening hours.

Final CGI U application workshop Jan. 17
The final application workshop for students interested in the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) is slated for 12 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, in Danforth University Center, Room 234. Up to 200 WUSTL students will be selected to participate in CGI U, which will be held April 5-7 on campus.
WUSTL receives Institution of the Year award for its work with minority-owned businesses
Washington University recently secured a notable achievement: The St. Louis Minority Supplier Development Council (SLMSDC) named the school its Institution of the Year. The award recognizes the university’s ongoing efforts to seek, and provide opportunities for, minority-owned businesses for campus projects.
Social Change Grants available for student summer projects
The Community Service Office has announced the availability of more than $42,000 for Social Change Grant projects in summer 2013. WUSTL students are invited to build proposals for full or part-time summer work in the development and implementation of an innovative community project.
