Robert Schreiber, PhD, delivered the Stanley J. Korsmeyer Memorial Lecture in May. The annual lecture honors a beloved former Washington University medical oncologist and researcher whose groundbreaking discoveries opened new doors to understanding and treating cancer.

Parkview Place will close July 7 for up to 24 months due to construction of the new north campus tower on the old Jewish Hospital site. Patients receiving care in the Center for Advanced Medicine will not be able to use Parkview to access the CAM and the North Garage.

All School of Medicine faculty and staff are invited to a brown-bag lunch WUSTLnomics forum on the university’s efficiency efforts. It will be held from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in Moore Auditorium, on the North Building’s first floor.

Baseball Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa’s remarks to the Washington University in St. Louis Class of 2014. The university’s 153rd Commencement ceremony was held Friday, May 16, in Brookings Quadrangle on the Danforth Campus.

The Campus Diversity Collaborative aims to increase awareness of diversity and inclusion issues at WUSTL. The group, founded in 2007, seeks new members among faculty and staff on both the Danforth and Medical campuses.

The fourth annual Lavender Recognition Ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, in College Hall on the South 40. The ceremony honors the achievements and contributions of graduating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer students and their allies.

Buck, most recently director of the Cross Cultural Center at Saint Louis University, has been appointed director of the newly created Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Washington University in St. Louis. Holden Thorp, PhD, university provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, and Sharon Stahl, vice chancellor for students, made the announcement.
