The principals at seven local schools are poised to achieve big goals after participating in the SLPS Principal Redesign Fellowship, a bold new partnership between St. Louis Public Schools and the Institute for School Partnership at Washington University in St. Louis. 

A team that received early support from the Living Earth Collaborative was awarded a $633,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to evaluate pollination in orchards across the city of St. Louis. They will examine how factors such as human population density, socioeconomic status, soil type and surrounding vegetation impact insect numbers and fruit yield.

It’s a grim milestone. More than 1 million Americans have died due to COVID-19. Nine local teachers have been selected by Washington University in St. Louis faculty for the Summer Teacher-Researcher Partnership, an innovative initiative from the Institute for School Partnership. The teachers will work in university labs, where they will participate in faculty research and develop lessons for their classrooms.

The Washington University Prison Education Project held its 2022 commencement ceremony May 25 at the Missouri Eastern Correctional Center in Pacific, Mo. Fourteen students earned associate in arts degrees and four earned bachelor’s in integrated studies degrees.

The Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity (CRE²) has announced the three winners of its inaugural St. Louis High School Student Paper Awards. 

Washington University in St. Louis has admitted 50 rising high school sophomores to its innovative College Prep Program, a multiyear initiative that prepares high-achieving students with limited financial resources for college.

University employees are encouraged to donate food items for kids to Operation Food Search next week. Collection sites will be available Tuesday, May 24, on both the Danforth and Medical campuses.
