The Washington University United Way Campaign continues through Dec. 2. Faculty and staff who donate soon will be entered into a drawing for prizes.

Over the last year, a team of architects, medical professionals and engineers from Washington University in St. Louis and Chicago-based architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill have explored questions about building design and people’s health through interdisciplinary design studios and seminars. Now that research is bearing fruit. On Nov. 11, a new Smart Home for Occupational Therapy Healing — aka SMOOTH House — will break ground in St. Louis’ Delmar Maker District.

University employees can join colleagues at United Way of Greater St. Louis pop-up events benefiting area children Tuesday, Oct. 25, on the Danforth Campus, and Wednesday, Oct. 26, on the Medical Campus.

When Chancellor Andrew Martin told Anna Gonzalez, the newly named vice chancellor for student affairs and self-proclaimed foodie, that St. Louis boasted a world-class food scene, Gonzalez had her doubts. Two years later, she is happy to say the chancellor was right. Together they have launched the food blog, “Good Eats with Chancellor Martin & Dr. G,” which will showcase great local restaurants.
