Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton shared news that Washington University in St. Louis has been selected for a record sixth time to host a debate. In a nod to how the world has changed since our first debate in 1992, he and other leaders gathered at the Field House to spread the news donned ball caps bearing the hashtag #WashUdebate2016.
Stanislav named Freund Teaching Fellow by Sam Fox School, Saint Louis Art Museum
The Saint Louis Art Museum and the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis have selected Andréa Stanislav as the 2015-16 Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Teaching Fellow.
Bhayani named chief medical officer of Washington University Physicians
Sam Bhayani, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer of the Faculty Practice Plan at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, effective Nov. 1. The university’s Faculty Practice Plan, known as Washington University Physicians, ranks among the five largest academic group practices in the United States.

National survey provides valuable insight into sexual assault and misconduct on college campuses
The Association of American Universities (AAU) released today (Sept. 21) the findings of its comprehensive survey about sexual assault and misconduct on college campuses. Conducted this spring, the survey collected data from some 800,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students at 27 colleges and universities across the nation, including Washington University in St. Louis.
Washington People: Larry Shapiro
Larry J. Shapiro, MD, executive vice chancellor of medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine, will step down in December after 12 years at the helm. He reflects on his tenure here and on the dedicated, inspiring students, faculty and staff he has worked with.

Garage access road allows for right turns only at Newstead and Taylor beginning Sept. 21
As part of the overall plan to improve traffic flow in and around the Medical Campus, the access road on the south side of the campus garages along Duncan Avenue only will allow for right turns into and out of both Taylor and Newstead avenues beginning Monday, Sept. 21.

Hunstad named director of pediatric infectious diseases division
David A. Hunstad, MD, associate professor of pediatrics, has been named director of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the School of Medicine. A School of Medicine graduate, Hunstad previously served as director of the pediatric infectious diseases fellowship program and co-founded the Pediatric Physician-Scientist Training Program
