Kevin Herbert memorial lecture Oct. 23
The Department of Classics in Arts & Sciences will host a memorial for Kevin Herbert, professor emeritus of classics, at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the Ballroom of Washington University’s 560 Music Center.
Three brothers, one campus
As a high school student in Connecticut, Sean Clarke had no idea where he would attend college. He only knew where not to go – Washington University in St. Louis. But after visiting campus, Sean decided to join his brothers, junior Matt Smith and senior Julian Clarke.

John A. Berg, vice chancellor for admissions at Washington University in St. Louis, has announced his intention to retire at the end of the academic year, June 30, 2016, according to Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton.
Forum to focus on university’s diversity, inclusion efforts
All members of the Washington University in St. Louis community are invited to take part in a forum discussion at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, that will focus on the university’s ongoing diversity and inclusion efforts. A key topic will be the report and recommendations from the Steering Committee for Diversity & Inclusion. The event will be held at the Clark-Fox Forum in Hillman Hall.
Hillman Hall more than doubles Brown School’s teaching, research and program space
Hillman Hall, the newest academic building on the Danforth Campus of Washington University in St. Louis and the third facility for the Brown School, was dedicated during a ceremony Oct. 2. At approximately 105,000 square feet, it more than doubles its teaching, research and program space for the school. Targeted for LEED Platinum certification, the building design emphasizes health and wellness, diversity, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Obituary: Lisa Simone, 25, doctoral student in physical therapy
Lisa Cristine Simone, 25, a doctoral candidate in the Program in Physical Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine, died unexpectedly Sept. 29, 2015, in St. Louis.

$10 million gift for scholarships from Andrew and Barbara Taylor lifts campaign to $2 billion
St. Louis philanthropists Andrew and Barbara Taylor have committed $10 million to support scholarships for undergraduate students at Washington University in St. Louis, Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton announced. The Taylors’ gift brings the total raised to date for Leading Together: The Campaign for Washington University to $2 billion.
