Jennifer Silva, MD, a pediatric electrophysiologist at the School of Medicine, treats children with abnormal heart rhythms. She has co-founded a startup that is developing technology to help doctors see real-time 3D holograms of the heart during procedures to fix erratic heart rhythms.

The Parking and Transportation team at Washington University in St. Louis is providing important alerts and reminders to the campus community and an update on future plans, including focus groups, vehicle storage options and a new shuttle service.

Students created sculptures, paintings, books, musical compositions and works of fiction that reimagined Frankenstein’s monster for the Monster Challenge. Sponsored by the Frankenstein Bicentennial, the contest celebrates Mary Shelley’s novel and its enduring legacy. Their work is now on view in Olin Library’s Gingko Room.

Brown School student Jesse Herman is working to make the university a more welcoming place for veterans. An Army veteran, he is a facilitator for the Office of Military & Veteran Services’ new Veteran Ally training program.

Washington University in St. Louis Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton and Dean Aaron Bobick of the School of Engineering & Applied Science joined faculty, staff and friends for a groundbreaking ceremony kicking off construction of James M. McKelvey, Sr. Hall. 

David L. Kirk, former professor of biology in Arts & Sciences, died Nov. 1, 2018, in St. Louis after a long illness. He was 84. Kirk spent a lifetime teaching and researching developmental biology and, in retirement, worked to improve the way evolution is taught in K-12 schools.

The Commencement Office is seeking volunteers for the December Degree Candidate Recognition Ceremony. The ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 8 in the Athletic Complex Field House.
