Dan Shea, a professor emeritus of English in Arts & Sciences, died Oct. 23, 2023, while in hospice care at his home in the Central West End. He was 86.

Gena Gunn McClendon, director of community engagement at the Brown School’s Center for Social Development, died Oct. 21, 2023, in St. Louis after a battle with cancer. She was 65.

Virginia Herrmann, MD, a distinguished breast cancer specialist and past co-director of the breast surgery program at the School of Medicine, died Oct. 16 at her home in St. Louis following a two-year battle with cancer. She was 73.

Barbara P. Turner, a longtime staff member in the Division of Comparative Medicine at the School of Medicine, died Sept. 26 in her Belleville, Ill., home after a battle with breast cancer. She was 58.

Stanley Paul Hmiel, MD, PhD, a pediatric nephrologist at the School of Medicine, died surrounded by family Aug. 28 at a hospice in Creve Coeur, Mo., after a three-year struggle with colon cancer. He was 64.

Carlos A. Perez, MD, an internationally renowned cancer researcher and professor emeritus of radiation oncology at the School of Medicine, died Aug. 21 in Springfield, Mo.

Linda Repa-Eschen, former business director for the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Lipid Research within the Department of Medicine at the School of Medicine, died June 5 at her home after waiting for a lung transplant. She was 72.

Robert Morgan, a former professor in the McKelvey School of Engineering for more than 30 years, died Monday, June 26, in Falls Church, Virginia. Morgan joined the faculty in 1968 and worked to build new research and educational activities on the social applications of technology.

David C. Farrell, a former longtime member of the Board of Trustees, died June 5, 2023, at his home in Ladue, Mo. He was 89.

Robert M. Senior, MD, a highly regarded physician-scientist and professor emeritus at the School of Medicine, died peacefully June 8 at his home in St. Louis. He was 86.
