A new initiative seeks to tap into WashU’s people power to obtain input from the entire community on ways we can streamline, shift and adapt to benefit the university in lasting, sustainable ways.

The Athletic Complex once again will serve as the on-campus polling location at Washington University. Students who live on the South 40 and in the Village may vote at the Athletic Complex between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Nov. 3. And, for the first time, so may any students, faculty and staff who are approved to be on campus and live in St. Louis County.

It looks the same, yet the 169-acre campus feels a bit different this fall. As students return, a by-the-numbers look at what has been done to make the campus as safe as possible for returning students, faculty and staff.

While the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum remains closed to the general public due to COVID-19, the museum will be open to Washington University students, faculty and staff by appointment beginning Sept. 14.

Hyflex courses. Synchronous learning. PTZ cameras. The lingo of the COVID-19 era classroom is new to many students, but not to Tom Furby, director of classroom services at the Center for Teaching and Learning at Washington University in St. Louis. In the latest installation of WashU Spaces, Furby shows off the educational technology that will support students whether they are in the classroom or around the globe.

Washington University in St. Louis recently was selected to receive an Environmental Protection Agency 2020 Pollution Prevention Award.

This fall, each and every member of the Washington University community who will be on campus will be required to follow four steps — four public health measures that must be completed by students, faculty and staff individually, but will have an impact globally.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in St. Louis will remain closed to the public for the fall 2020 semester. However, in coordination with the universitywide COVID-19 response plan and health and safety guidelines, the museum will be accessible in a limited fashion to Washington University students, faculty and staff.
