Washington University has created the Institute for Leadership Excellence, which will provide professional development opportunities for staff members across the university. Selection for two cohorts will begin in April.

To ensure broad communication, certain key university policies are published annually in The Record. These policies are intended to promote and support a positive working and learning environment. The policies also are available on the Human Resources website.

University Libraries is accepting submissions from WashU community members for three awards programs: The Carl Neureuther Student Book Collection Essay Competition, the Newman Exploration Travel Fund and the Mendel Sato Research Award.

Washington University has equipped every building on every campus with an automated external defibrillator (AED), a device that can save lives. On-site demonstrations are available for departments and student groups.

A university blood drive will be held Tuesday, Jan. 24. Donors can give blood from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Umrath Hall Lounge on the Danforth Campus.

Members of the Washington University community are invited to nominate honorary degree candidates for the May 2024 Commencement. Nominations are due by Jan. 27.

Washington University employees can get a COVID-19 booster shot during walk-in clinics on the Medical Campus starting Friday, Jan. 13.

The Neuroscience Research Building under construction on the Medical Campus will contain energy-efficient, low-energy research freezers in laboratories; electric charging stations in the parking garage; and numerous other sustainability-focused elements. The building is on track to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification.
