Andrew Yoo, associate professor of developmental biology at the School of Medicine, has received two research grants for work on Alzheimer’s disease and neurodegenerative pathways.

The China Journal of Social Work has honored an international team of scholars with the 2020 Best Article award for their study on the rebirth of social work in mainland China. The team includes scholars from Washington University’s Center for Social Development, Saint Louis University, Peking University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Arpita Bose in Arts & Sciences, whose research is connected to carbon sequestration and sustainable bioproduction, was selected to participate in the Anant Fellowship for Climate Action, a global program for climate change “solutionaries.”

Washington University was ranked the top employer in Missouri on Forbes 2021 list of “America’s Best Employers.”

Janice L. Robertson, assistant professor of biochemistry and molecular biophysics at the School of Medicine, received a four-year $1.39 million renewal grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for her research titled “Driving forces of membrane protein assembly in membranes.”

The School of Medicine is accepting applications for the American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant to support junior faculty conducting cancer research pilot projects.

Bo Zhang, at the School of Medicine, received a five-year $1.89 million Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for a research project involving the human genome.

Eric Conners, a graduate student in in biology in Arts & Sciences, received a 2021-22 Howard A. Schneiderman Fellowship.

Nine alumni of Washington University earned Fulbright awards to conduct research or teach English this academic year. The program recognizes talented students who are committed to promoting global collaboration and understanding through research and teaching.

Deborah Veis, MD, PhD, professor of medicine in the Division of Bone and Mineral Diseases at the School of Medicine, has been appointed the next editor-in-chief of the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research Plus. Her five-year term begins Sept. 1.
