Renée Shellhaas, MD, the David T. Blasingame Professor of Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been awarded the Child Neurology Society’s 2024 Hower Award.

Ramesh Agarwal, the William Palm Professor of Engineering in the McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, has been selected to receive the 2024 Thermal and Fluids Engineering Award from the American Society of Thermal and Fluids Engineers.

Julie K. Schwarz, MD, PhD, a highly regarded radiation oncologist known for her innovative mindset in treating patients and leading research to develop new treatments for deadly gynecologic cancers and heart conditions, has been named a William H. Danforth Washington University Physician Scholar.

Edward F. Lawlor, the William E. Gordon Distinguished Professor and dean emeritus at the Brown School, has been named a fellow of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare, the nation’s leading honorific society of distinguished social work and social welfare scholars and practitioners. 

A team from the McDonnell Center for the Space Sciences won the Microanalysis Society’s Macres Award for the best instrumentation/software paper.

Nominations are being accepted for Washington University in St. Louis’ annual Faculty Achievement Awards, known as the Arthur Holly Compton Faculty Achievement Award and the Carl and Gerty Cori Faculty Achievement Award.

Celina Jacobi, MD, an instructor in child psychiatry, and Lisa Zickuhr, MD, an assistant professor of medicine, have been named the 2024-26 Carol B. and Jerome T. Loeb Teaching Fellows at the School of Medicine.

Hong Chen and Jonathan Silva, both faculty members in the McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, have been named senior members of the National Academy of Inventors. They will be inducted in June.

The National Academy of Investors included Washington University in St. Louis on its 2023 Top 100 Worldwide Universities granted U.S. patents again.
