At the Washington University in St. Louis Board of Trustees meeting March 1, the following faculty were appointed with tenure or promoted with tenure or granted tenure, effective July 1 unless otherwise noted.
Sam Fox School names Amy Hauft to lead College & Graduate School of Art
Amy Hauft, the Leslie Waggener Professor in Sculpture at the University of Texas at Austin, has been appointed director of the College & Graduate School of Art in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. Also joining the Sam Fox School faculty will be sculptor Jack Risley, the Meredith and Cornelia long Chair of Art and Art History at UT Austin.
Sexual Assault Advisory Committee to offer input and ideas on Title IX
As part of Washington University in St. Louis’ ongoing efforts to address sexual assault and misconduct, an advisory group of students, faculty and staff will meet this semester to explore ways to strengthen the Title IX process, policies and practices. The 12-member committee will be chaired by Nicole Hudson, assistant vice chancellor for the Academy for Diversity and Inclusion.
Chancellor-elect Martin announces staff
Chancellor-elect Andrew D. Martin has announced three new members of his office staff: Rebecca Brown, Jill Clark and Nancy Lyons. Martin also has launched a new website.

Lester named journal editor, society president
Rebecca Lester, associate professor of sociocultural anthropology in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, has been appointed the next editor-in-chief of the interdisciplinary journal Culture, Medicine, and Psychiatry. She also was recently elected president of the Society for Psychological Anthropology.
Kielt named vice chancellor for information technology, chief information officer
Chris Kielt, vice chancellor for information technology and chief information officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will become vice chancellor and chief information officer at Washington University. Kielt, who has more than 30 years of experience in higher education, will join the university by March 1.
Potts named associate vice chancellor for finance and controller
Barbara L. Potts has been named associate vice chancellor for finance and controller at Washington University in St. Louis, announced Amy B. Kweskin, vice chancellor for finance and chief financial officer. Her appointment was effective Oct. 2.
Board of Trustees elects new vice chair, hears updates on endowment, Leading Together campaign
At its Oct. 4-5 meeting, the Board of Trustees elected Trustee Andrew E. Newman as vice chair and chair-elect and heard updates on the university’s endowment and Leading Together: The Campaign for Washington University.
