Richard Howard, poetry editor of The Paris Review, will present a talk on the craft of poetry at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, for The Writing Program Reading Series at Washington University in St. Louis. In addition, Howard will read from his own work at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 18.

Conservative political analyst, lawyer and best selling author Ann Coulter contends that America’s media landscape is strewn with examples of media abuse, liberal manipulation and Democratic conspiracies against Republicans.

Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, known for his pioneering use of low-cost materials such as paper and bamboo, will speak on Works and Humanitarian Activities at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 29.

Museum Building, Sam Fox Arts Center at WUSTL.The Kresge Foundation has awarded a $1 million challenge grant to the Sam Fox Arts Center at Washington University in St. Louis. To receive the grant, which supports construction of two new buildings as well as renovations of existing facilities, the university must raise an additional $4.4 million in outright gifts and pledges.

The Tom Kennedy Group will perform for Washington University’s Jazz at Holmes Series from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday, March 18.

The Brett Stamps Quartet will perform for Washington University’s Jazz at Holmes Series from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday, March 25.

Four distinguished St. Louis composers, all affiliated with the Washington University Department of Music in Arts & Sciences, will be honored with a concert of their works in the university’s Edison Theatre at 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 29.

Roberta Freund Schwartz, assistant professor of historical musicology at the University of Kansas, will present a lecture titled “An Investigation into the Late Renaissance episteme Embodied in the Musical Writings of Joachim Burmeister and the Motets of Orlando di Lasso” at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27.

Tenor Joseph Michels, a master’s candidate in vocal performance in Washington University’s Department of Music in Arts & Sciences, will present a voice recital at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in the university’s Graham Chapel.
