Washington University in St. Louis has announced a transformative fundraising initiative that aims not only to increase financial resources for students at every level of need, including middle-income students, but also to provide a “best-in-class” experience for all students to learn, develop and flourish while on campus and beyond.

Scot R. Bemis, most recently vice president for human resources and chief human resources officer at Dartmouth College, has been named vice chancellor for human resources and institutional equity, announced Shantay Bolton, executive vice chancellor for administration and chief administrative officer.

In his remarks to the Washington University in St. Louis Class of 2022, Chancellor Andrew D. Martin suggested that the graduates ask themselves not what they want to be, but who do they want to be.

Washington University’s 161st Commencement is 9 a.m. Friday, May 20, on Francis Olympic Field. The university will award degrees to approximately 3,800 members of the Class of 2022, and Mae Jemison, MD, the first woman of color to become a NASA astronaut and to travel into space, will deliver the Commencement address.
