Independent review of WUPD shows policing practices to be a national model
An independent, high-level review of the Washington University Police Department’s (WUPD) policing practices was conducted last summer. The recently released findings show that the WUPD’s Fair and Impartial Policing policy is a national model for other law enforcement agencies.
Allen named vice chancellor and general counsel
Monica J. Allen, JD, associate vice chancellor, deputy general counsel and chief litigation counsel at Washington University, has been appointed vice chancellor and general counsel, effective July 1, 2016. Allen will succeed Michael R. Cannon, JD, who has announced that he will conclude his tenure June 30 as executive vice chancellor and general counsel.
Anthony Tillman to join university as associate provost
Anthony Tillman, assistant provost at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, has been appointed an associate provost at Washington University. When Tillman joins the university in summer 2016, he will coordinate programs aimed at ensuring the success of low-income and first-generation students.

Herbert (Herb) Weitman, who served as director of photographic services at Washington University for more than four decades, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. He was 89.
2016-17 tuition, board and fees announced
Undergraduate tuition at Washington University in St. Louis will be $48,950 for the 2016-17 academic year — a $1,650 increase over the 2015-16 current academic tuition of $47,300, announced Amy B. Kweskin, vice chancellor for finance and chief financial officer. As with last year, when the percentage increase was the university’s lowest in 47 years, the percentage increase remains at 3.5 percent.

Trustees meet, discuss graduate and professional education
The Friday, Dec. 4, meeting of the Washington University in St. Louis Board of Trustees focused on graduate and professional education, according to Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton. The board also elected a new trustee. Distinguished alumnus F. Gilbert Bickel III (BSBA ’66), a senior vice president with Wells Fargo Advisors, was elected as a new Ethan A.H. Shepley Trustee.
Danforth staff invited to apply for position on new advisory council
A Danforth staff advisory council is being created at Washington University and all interested Danforth staff members are invited to apply for a position on the council. The council is being created to provide a platform for ongoing and consistent communication between Danforth staff and the senior administration.
Amy Kweskin named vice chancellor for finance, CFO
Amy B. Kweskin, associate vice chancellor for finance and treasurer at Washington University, has been named the university’s vice chancellor for finance and chief financial officer. The appointment is effective Jan. 1, 2016. Kweskin will succeed Barbara A. Feiner, who announced in July that she would retire Dec. 31.
