Washington University’s Lifelong Learning Institute, which offers academic courses to learners 50 and over, has become the newest member of the national network of Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes, thanks to funding from the Bernard Osher Foundation.

Undergraduate tuition at Washington University in St. Louis will be $54,250 for the 2019-20 academic year — a $1,850 increase over the 2018-19 current academic tuition of $52,400, announced Amy B. Kweskin, vice chancellor for finance and chief financial officer. This year’s percentage increase of 3.5 percent matches that of the last four years and remains the university’s lowest in 51 years.

Chris Kielt, vice chancellor for information technology and chief information officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will become vice chancellor and chief information officer at Washington University. Kielt, who has more than 30 years of experience in higher education, will join the university by March 1.

Graduate student and McDonnell International Scholars Academy scholar Po-Cheng Lin delivered the winning presentation at the Three Minute Thesis competition, held at the McDonnell Academy’s 7th International Symposium in Beijing.

Marie Prange Oetting, a longtime volunteer with Washington University and former chair of the Alumni Board of Governors, died Oct. 9, 2018, in St. Louis after a brief illness. She was 91.

The Commencement Office is seeking volunteers for the December Degree Candidate Recognition Ceremony. The ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 8 in the Athletic Complex Field House.
