Actor Goodman to headline Founders Day Nov. 2

Award-winning actor and St. Louis native John Goodman will be the keynote speaker for Washington University in St. Louis’ annual Founders Day celebration Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. Louis Union Station Hotel. During the event to celebrate the university’s founding in 1853, distinguished alumni, faculty and supporters are honored.

Chancellor Andrew D. Martin and Interim Provost Marion Crain have appointed a 16-member committee to identify candidates for the position of dean of the faculty of Arts & Sciences. Aaron F. Bobick, dean of the McKelvey School of Engineering, will chair the search committee.

Commencement marks new beginning for more than 3,100 graduates

Washington University’s 158th Commencement ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday, May, 17, in Brookings Quadrangle, where more than 12,000 family, friends, professors, staff, administrators and trustees will gather to recognize the achievements of the Class of 2019. Michael R. Bloomberg, 108th mayor of New York City and founder of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies, will deliver the Commencement address.
