Freshman Finale scheduled for April 23

The annual Freshman Finale celebration will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23 in College Hall on the South 40. All members of the university community are invited to attend. The event will includes remarks from College of Arts & Sciences Dean Jennifer R. Smith and a representative of the freshman class, as well as student performances and awards.

Alumni Weekend planned for April 19-21

Alumni celebrating their 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th or 45th reunion will be returning to campus April 19-21 for a weekend of activities that coincides with the university’s Thurtene Carnival. More than 2,000 alumni and guests are expected to attend.

Relay For Life brings WUSTL community together in fight against cancer

Washington University in St. Louis will host its 11th annual Relay For Life, the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society, from 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13, to 6 a.m. Sunday, April 14, on Francis Field. The 12-hour, overnight walk-a-thon is symbolic: cancer doesn’t sleep — and neither will participants working to combat the disease. The WUSTL event is entirely organized by the student-led Relay For Life Steering Committee.

CGI U Day Two: Empowering women throughout the world

Day two of the Clinton Global Initiative University at Washington University in St. Louis began with an excellent and inspiring plenary session called “A Better Future for Girls and Women: Empowering the Next Generation,” moderated by Chelsea Clinton. The session featured four leaders who are making a difference for women around the world, including microcredit pioneer and 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus.

CGI U Day Two: Closing thoughts and pictures of the day

The closing session of CGI U at Washington University has just concluded and the enthusiasm and passion in the room is still very much on my mind. We ended CGI U with a rousing, entertaining and deeply inspirational session featuring Comedy’s Central’s Stephen Colbert and CGI U’s namesake, President Bill Clinton.

Winners of 26th annual book collection competition announced

When Carl Neureuther, a 1940 graduate of Washington University, set up an endowment in 1987 to support library collections, he was also ensuring support for something more: a lifelong love of reading. The results are in for this year’s Neureuther Student Book Collection Essay Competition sponsored by Washington University Libraries.

Whittemore House to reopen for breakfast and lunch April 8
