Center for the Humanities announces Faculty Fellows

The Center for the Humanities in Arts & Sciences has announced its Spring 2009 Faculty Fellows. The three recipients are: Guinn Batten, Ph.D., associate professor of English; Andrea Friedman, Ph.D., associate professor of history and Women & Gender Studies; and Jennifer Kapczynski, Ph.D., assistant professor of German, all in Arts & Sciences.

CarlinMusicians from Washington University and the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra will join forces to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of French composer Olivier Messiaen, one of the 20th century’s most influential composers. The concert will highlight Messiaen’s signature Quartet for the End of Time, written in a German prison camp during World War II.
