Miller, Morris to receive faculty achievement awards
Gary J. Miller, PhD, who conducts experimental research on the politics of organizations, including decision-making in bureaucracies, committees and small groups, and John C. Morris, MD, an internationally renowned researcher of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological disorders associated with aging, will receive Washington University’s 2010 faculty achievement awards in December, Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton announced.

Exemplary teaching performance
Arts & Sciences teaching assistants listen as they are recognized for their “exemplary” performance during the annual Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence ceremony, held April 19 in the Danforth University Center. The ceremony, in which 13 graduate students were recognized, coincided with the kickoff of Graduate Education Week in Missouri, April 19-24, as designated by Gov. Jay Nixon.
Center for the Humanities announces grant recipients for 2011
The Center for the Humanities in Arts & Sciences has announced its first grant recipients for two newly established programs: the Faculty Seminar Grants and the Reading Group Grants for Faculty and Graduate Students.
Outstanding mentoring recognized
The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) honored seven faculty members with Outstanding Faculty Mentor Awards for their dedication to graduate students and commitment to excellence in graduate training. Special recognition for excellence in mentoring went to 14 other faculty members during GSS’ 11th annual awards ceremony and reception, held April 14 in the Danforth University Center.

Singing the vision

Celebrating our American Indian culture
Visitors to the annual Pow Wow Apri 10 at the Field House enjoyed a daylong celebration of dancing, singing, drumming, arts, crafts and food. Sponsored by the Brown School’s Kathryn M. Buder Center for American Indian Studies, it is the only Pow Wow within 100 miles of St. Louis.
