Annual Public Service Fair Sept. 21

The Gephardt Institute is sponsoring the annual Public Service Fair featuring more than 40 nonprofit organizations from 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, in the Danforth University Center Tisch Commons and Edison Family Courtyard. The fair is open students, faculty, staff and the local community.

The pacifist fundamentalist

Students packed College Hall Sept. 13 to hear international human rights lawyer and prominent political commentator Arsalan Iftikhar, JD, speak on Muslim identity in the United States’ post-9/11 era. A lively question-and-answer discussion followed his lecture titled, “The Pacifist Fundamentalist.”

Washington University Bulletin to go online only

The 2010-2011 edition of the Washington University Bulletin will be available online beginning Friday, Aug. 13, announced Edward S. Macias, PhD, provost, executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and the Barbara and David Thomas Distinguished Professor in Arts & Sciences.

Enrichment with a purpose

University College students hang a fluorescent light fixture at the North Side Community School in St. Louis July 24 in a service project in conjunction with UCollege’s “Volunteer Resource Management” class. Students painted rooms, assembled furniture and hung boards and light fixtures. University College is holding a preview night for all its programs at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, in Holmes Lounge.

Safety drill

Paul Landgraf of WUSTL environmental health and safety (center) and fire officials from the University City Fire Department go over maps outlining the fire lanes on campus. Each year, fire departments from Clayton and University City drive the fire lanes on the Danforth Campus to ensure emergency vehicles can respond to WUSTL emergencies using campus roadways.
