Milbourn installed as Hubert C. and Dorothy R. Moog Professor
Todd T. Milbourn, PhD, was installed as the Hubert C. and Dorothy R. Moog Professor of finance Sept. 29 in a ceremony at the Charles F. Knight Executive Education and Conference Center. Milbourn, who joined the Olin Business School faculty 10 years ago, is the second to receive this title; the inaugural professorship was held by Nicholas Dopuch, PhD, currently Moog professor emeritus of accounting.
Timeless honor for Sherraden

The proclamation celebrates Sherraden, a University City resident, being named to the 2010 TIME 100, the magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
Top bankruptcy expert at law school Oct. 20
The American College of Bankruptcy and Washington University in St. Louis School of Law will present a lecture by James H.M. Sprayregen, JD, one of the nation’s top restructuring attorneys, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, in the Bryan Cave Moot Courtroom of Anheuser-Busch Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Washington University’s magazine launches new online edition
Washington, the magazine for Washington University in St. Louis, is changing. An online version of the magazine will be published six times a year (October, December, February, April, June and August). This will allow the magazine to communicate with its audiences more frequently as well as lessen the magazine’s environmental impact.

Child labor expert to speak Oct. 13
Eric Edmonds, PhD, associate professor of economics at Dartmouth College, will speak about “Poverty Alleviation and Child Labor” at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Washington University’s Goldfarb Hall, Room 132. His talk is a follow-up discussion to Nicholas Kristof’s recent WUSTL presentation on his book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide.
The invisible costs of war
Cynthia Enloe, PhD, research professor in the Department of International Development, Community, and Environment and director of the women’s studies department at Clark University in Worcester, Mass., will discuss the “Invisible Costs of War” for the Assembly Series at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, in Steinberg Hall Auditorium.
Wrighton-led NRC committee report on tech-transfer released
Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton has led a National Research Council (NRC) team of 18 academic and industrial experts who have reviewed laws on publicly funded university research and intellectual property rights. The committee’s report, “Managing University Intellectual Property in the Public Interest,” was released Oct. 1.
