Dedric Carter is stepping down from his role as vice chancellor for innovation and chief commercialization officer at Washington University in St. Louis to take a position at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, according to Chancellor Andrew D. Martin. His appointment is effective Oct. 30.

Robert M. Senior, MD, a highly regarded physician-scientist and professor emeritus at the School of Medicine, died peacefully June 8 at his home in St. Louis. He was 86.

William G. Powderly and Lori A. Setton will receive Washington University’s 2023 faculty achievement awards, Chancellor Andrew D. Martin announced. 

Psychology researchers at Washington University in St. Louis have created the Social Media Use Scale, which groups social media use into four broad categories and offers insights about personality and behavior traits.

Starting at 10 a.m. June 7, Danforth Campus employees can register for a U-Pass as well as purchase a 2023-24 Danforth Campus parking permit. WashU School of Medicine employees also can register for a U-Pass or Danforth Campus reciprocal parking permit.

Several humanities faculty members received individual research grants this spring from the Center for the Humanities in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis.

The McKelvey School of Engineering recently honored alumni and friends for their service to the school, thought leadership, business acumen and impact.

Washington University has established the Committee to Examine Remembrance and Commemoration to evaluate professorships, buildings and other honors named for people to ensure such recognition aligns with the university’s values and, where needed, to confront history and to learn from the past.

With the academic year concluded, Dining Services has announced summer hours for various dining spots around the Danforth Campus. Also, a rotation of food trucks will be outside the Danforth University Center at lunch time on workdays through May 31.

In his remarks to the Washington University in St. Louis Class of 2023, Chancellor Andrew D. Martin encouraged graduates to “remember your resilience, and use your creativity, your curiosity, your care and your courage to change the world.”
