A meeting to help Danforth Campus employers learn the process and benefits of hiring Federal Work-Study Program students as employees next fall will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, in Wilson Hall. Student Financial Services will host the meeting.

Arts & Sciences senior Nisha K. Chatterjee is this year’s winner of the Rabbi Ferdinand M. Isserman Prize. The annual award recognizes a student who has made a significant contribution in service and leadership to ecumenical or interfaith activities on the Washington University in St. Louis campus.

Pleasant weather meant big crowds for Thurtene Carnival on WUSTL’s Danforth Campus during the past weekend. The annual student-run carnival brings WUSTL members together with the greater St. Louis community for a weekend of fun and delighted children, as seen here. The event also raises money for charity.

The first-ever Dean James E. McLeod Freshman Writing Prize has been awarded, and the inaugural winners are Senit Kidane and Claudia Vaughan. McLeod was a longtime WUSTL leader who died in 2011. The Center for the Humanities provided funding for the contest, and any freshman in the College of Arts & Sciences could submit work for consideration. Original research papers exploring an aspect of race, gender or identity and created for a freshman course were eligible.
