University Police remind campus about personal safety
The Washington University Police Department will again initiate its “Don’t be in the Dark” safety program Monday through Thursday evenings, Nov. 7-10, talking in neighborhoods with students about safety after dark.
Rao recognized for work on tropical diseases
Ramakrishna Rao, an associate professor of medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, recently received the 2016 Anne Maurer-Cecchini Award, an honor that recognizes outstanding epidemiological or clinical research on neglected tropical diseases.

Zika infection reduces fertility, lowers testosterone in male mice
A new study in mice co-authored by School of Medicine scientists suggests that Zika infection may have consequences for men that interfere with their ability to have children. Studies in people are needed to determine if men are similarly affected.

New academic building added to plan for east end of Danforth Campus
Plans for the transformation of the east end of the Danforth Campus have expanded to include an additional academic building for the School of Engineering & Applied Science, James M. McKelvey, Sr. Hall. Located south of Preston M. Green Hall, it will house the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and support the university’s data science efforts.
Professor contributes to PBS documentary
Zhao Ma, assistant professor of East Asian languages in Arts & Sciences, contributed to the making of the PBS documentary “The Battle of Chosin,” which will air on PBS on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
