Helping local high school students think big​​​​

​​Now in its second year, Washington University in St. Louis’ College Prep Program prepares talented, low-income high school students for college. This year’s cohort of 46 students represents 24 local high schools. Students made ethanol in a lab, composed stories in the university’s Writing Center and learned to kickbox​. 

Parking rates to increase

Annual Washington University in St. Louis parking permits expire June 30. ​Permits can be renewed online or at the Parking and Transportation Services office on the North Campus. Prices for red, yellow, blue, brown, green, North Campus, Bearly Drivers, official business and evening permits have increased for the 2015-16 school year. The price for all other permits remains unchanged.

One month remains in Our Washington ​​campaign​​

​Washington University staff and faculty have one more month to join the 5,000 employees who already have contributed to Our Washington, the faculty and staff component of Leading Together: The Campaign for Washington University. Donations support scholarships, strengthen academic and scientific initiatives, advance learning and enhance facilities.

​Washington University’s College Prep program nearly doubles​

​Washington University in St. Louis has nearly doubled the number of rising high school sophomores admitted to its innovative College Prep program, a multi-year initiative that prepares high-achieving students with limited financial resources for college. This year’s class of 48 students will live and study on campus June 7-19.

Cosby receives Gloria White award

Cynthia Cosby, a champion for African-American students and alumni of Washington University in St. Louis, was the 18th recipient of the Gloria W. White Distinguished Service Award. Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton presented the award to Cosby before 700 of her peers at the annual Staff Day celebration May 18.

Washington People: Sead Ademovic

Sead Ademovic jokes that no one like the ticket monitor, but he plays an important role on campus. Ademovic is among more than 230 veteran employees who will be recognized May 18 at Staff Day. Staff members are invited to celebrate their colleagues at 10 a.m. at Edison Theatre, enjoy lunch at Bowles Plaza and participate in fun activities ranging from bingo to yoga.
